About Preston Candover and Nutley
The tranquil parish of Preston Candover and Nutleyis situated in a valley carved into the Hampshire chalk downlands. The parish is a rural one, surrounded by farmland and woods and lying at the centre of a triangle between Winchester, Altonand Basingstoke.
The parish is lucky to have many facilities - as well as two pubs it also has a village shop and post office, a highly regarded school and pre-school, a church, village hall, recreation ground and skate ramp, children’s play area and allotments.
The school and village hall are the focal points for many social events and clubs, all of which give the parish a strong sense of community.
The parish is 10 miles north of historic Winchester, 3 miles west of the A339 Basingstoke to Altonroad, and 7 miles south of Basingstoke centre with it’s excellent shopping centre. There are ex cellent transport links, with the M3 motorway 5 nmiles away (25 miles to the M25) and trains from Basingstoke station reach London Waterloo in 45 minutes. The parish is served by the Cango bus service which operates between Basingstoke, Altonand Alresford.
